Vermont is preparing for its first hemp crop in modern times.
According to the state’s Agency of Agriculture, more than 2,000 acres of hemp will be grown across Vermont this growing season.

And more than 300 growers have registered with the state to grow industrial hemp.

Vermont’s industrial hemp pilot program was established by the state in 2013.

Cary Giguere with the Vermont Agency of Agriculture told Hemp Benchmarks that the price for premium hemp flower, used for CBD, averaged around $200 per pound in the state in 2017.
