FDA Provides Long-Awaited Update for CBD Enforcement to US Congress

CBD products have now become so common in most of the United States that infused products can be found anywhere from specialty shops to the corner convenience store. Many have been wondering when federal regulation and rulemaking will catch up with this rapidly growing industry that has so few existing regulations.

Originally the FDA was said to release regulation plans for CBD within 60 days of the 2018 Farm Bill. Last week the FDA released an update on the status of rulemaking for CBD. The FDA claims that this update will bring clarity and protect the public that uses these products. Some companies producing CBD products could be affected due to the FDA’s promise to crackdown on those promoting unsubstantiated claims about what their products will do for the body.

The FDA plans to refine, revise, and improve their regulation system regarding CBD as more data becomes available about the risks and benefits of these products.
