The month of June brought significant wholesale price change across many product categories. This was not completely unexpected, as price declines for biomass and genetics have historically been observed as the growing season hits full swing and producers and suppliers adjust prices in the buyer’s favor to raise capital under “normal” conditions. With current input costs for major expenditures on the rise, most notably fertilizer, sellers were more inclined to negotiate prices to ensure they were adequately prepared for the current economical challenges they face to cultivate a successful crop.
CBD hemp biomass prices fell across all volume categories this month, from 5% to 10%, pushing the aggregate category down 8% per CBD percentage per pound. Despite the losses, the year-over-year price remains 12% higher than at this time last year. All seed genetic categories saw minimal price declines this month as demand from domestic customers slows. CBD clone prices also fell, by 12%, as remaining inventory for outdoor planting is cleared. Smokable CBD flower prices for both indoor and greenhouse grown products pushed the aggregate category up for the fourth straight month. THCa flower prices also increased at the aggregate level, with a 5.1% per pound price increase for greenhouse grown flower leading the way.
