May 28, 2025

Wholesale prices in May for hemp and hemp-derived products saw little change from the previous month. Compared to this time last year, significant price increases across several historical product categories have occurred, while declines for relatively new product types are evident as producer competition increased with the popularity of intoxicating products.

Price assessments for all volumes of CBD Biomass, including the aggregate category, held steady this month, as did the CBG Biomass valuation. CBD Clones saw an 8% decline this month, while their CBG counterpart also lost 4%. Feminized CBD and CBG Seeds both increased, by 5% and 2%, respectively.

The Smokable CBD Flower prices rose for the 3rd straight month, gaining 3% over last month. With the continued demand for indoor and greenhouse grown flower, this category has seen a 27.7% increase year-over-year. As the number of cultivators growing THCa flower has increased in the past year, competition continues to weigh on the average price, as flower grown in all environments saw declines this month, pushing the aggregate price down for the 8th straight month. The price assessment for THCa flower has dropped over 35% since we introduced the category in February 2024.

CBD Crude Oil prices maintained the pricing stability we’ve seen since late 2024. There were minimal changes in prices for all CBD Distillate categories, as was the case with CBG Distillate as well. CBD Isolate saw the largest percentage price increase across all major categories this month, gaining 9% per kilo. The price assessment for this category has climbed 31.5% since May 2024, as it has established itself as the predominant ingredient for the production of many isomers being sold to consumers. Prices for CBG Isolate also moved upwards, gaining 3%, or $19, to reach $761 per kilo.

Prices for CBN Isolate and CBC Isolate continue to rise, gaining 2% and 2.8%, respectively. THCv Isolate demand continues to shrink, pushing the average rate for a kilo of this novelty product down 6.7% per kilo.

Prices for both Delta-8 THC Distillate and Delta-10 THC Distillate saw declining rates this month. With the former losing 1.2% and the latter 5.7%. Demand for products containing these compounds remains steady, although regulatory challenges in several states continue to sow uncertainty for consumer access and how that will affect prices over the next several months.

Shipping rates for Dry Van and Sprinter Van transportation of hemp products continued to fall this month, losing roughly 3% per mile. As inbound traffic at ports around the country continues to decline, carriers are facing steep competition for contracts.
