The month of October saw marginal price adjustments across over half of the major product categories, with prices moving less than 3% for 16 of the 21 benchmarks. Prices for CBD Isolate and CBG Distillate had the largest losses, at 6% and 9%, respectively. Clones had the largest price gain, rising over 4% as indoor growing operations continue to produce smokable flower preferred by consumers.
A minor uptick in the wholesale price for CBD biomass sold in small quantities, between 500 and 3,000 pounds, pushed the aggregate biomass category to its highest level since June, and 12% higher than this time last year. The reduction of biomass harvested in previous years being purchased and reduced overall production of the plant has helped to sustain prices for both CBD and CBG biomass.
THCa flower prices rose by 4% on the back of steady indoor grown flower prices and a 3.9% increase in the average price for greenhouse grown flower. The current THCa aggregate benchmark price exceeds that of 9 state licensed cannabis markets tracked by Cannabis Benchmarks. States with a restricted number of cannabis licenses, such as Illinois and Connecticut, continue to obtain much higher wholesale prices than THCa flower grown by hemp license holders, yet with those higher prices comes higher cost of production and tax obligations, greatly impacting margins.
The aggregate smokable CBD flower category moved a mere $1 despite all grow types experiencing price increases this month. An increase in greenhouse and outdoor grown flower trades weighed on the aggregate benchmark heavily, reducing the impact of higher priced indoor grown flower.
Seed genetics saw declines across the board, for both feminized and non-feminized CBD varietals, CBG varietals, and for hemp grown for fiber and grain. CBD distillate products experienced slight shifts in prices, as THC Free and Broad Spectrum CBD distillates inched upwards. CBD Isolate prices continue to fall as supply is robust, this month losing 6% in value and down 41% since this time last year. CBG Isolate prices have also been on a prolonged downward slide, dropping 3% this month and 21% since October 2025.
The price erosion for minor cannabinoid isolates and specialty isomers, most notably for those having intoxicating effects, continued in October as heavy wholesale volume discounts persist. Products such as CBN Isolate, CBC Distillate, and THC-O Distillate saw prices decline by less than 4%, while Delta-8 THC Distillate and Delta-10 THC Distillate had price declines of 3.4% and 6.6%, respectively.
