Illinois House and Senate Approve Legalizing the Commercial Production of Industrial Hemp

Illinois Legalizes Commercial Industrial Hemp Production

A measure that would end the ban on industrial hemp production in Illinois is heading to the office of Governor Bruce Rauner.

Senate Bill 2298 was passed by the state’s House and Senate with near-unanimous approval.

If signed off by the governor, the bill would create a legal framework for the growing, cultivation and processing of industrial hemp in Illinois.

It would also remove hemp from the state’s Noxious Weed and Cannabis Control Acts.
